DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
ARRESTS
With a lot of display of power, including police dogs (only the helicopter was missing), in the morning of May 18 1999 the brothers Fred and Gerard Blankespoor were arrested respectively in their homes in Apeldoorn, as well as the oldest brother Henk Blankespoor in his home in Wateringen.
” Henk Blankespoor is released after three days, despite being accused by Edith Blankespoor of being the intellectual perpetrator “
All this on behalf of the District Attorney of The Hague Mr. van den Honert. Because of his blunders and lack of clear results, the latter would be removed from this case and replaced by the District Attorney of Rotterdam Mr. Hemelaar.
Henk Blankespoor is released after three days, despite being accused by Edith Blankespoor of being the intellectual perpetrator; with her words “Henk knew about it. Henk was the organizer. “
Gerard and Fred Blankespoor have been in custody for hundredandthree days and were released by order of the District Attorney Mr. van den Honert on August 26 1999 to await without restrictions their ongoing lawsuit.
That the motives of the police, the judiciary and also the municipality of Apeldoorn to arrest the Blankespoor brothers on the basis of false charges were far from pure, is evident from the press publication of the Reformatorisch Dagblad in September 17 1999 and of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Zutphen in June 1999.
It states that De Schakel, founded by Gerard Blankespoor, has been a thorn in the side of police, judiciary and the municipality of Apeldoorn for many years.
In 1998, the municipality of Apeldoorn is already delaying the payment of the benefits of the residents of De Schakel by three months and more (see the declaration by De Keursteen Foundation) and the Public Prosecutor’s Office initiates a preliminary investigation of Gerard Blankespoor and De Schakel at the instigation of the municipality of Apeldoorn and highlighted by Gerard Gabriëlse, in whereby prostitution, arms trafficking, drugs trafficking and social insurance fraud are the key issues.
Charges that are serious enough to stop the activities of the private clinic, which worked with proven better results than the heavily subsidized institutions of the government.
In this context De Schakel’s expansion plans from 130 beds to 350 beds in 1999, were killed off in a ugly way by the municipality of Apeldoorn.
When De Schakel went bankrupt at the end of 1999 due to the arrests and the enormous publicity it received, it was taken over by the De Hoop foundation at Dordrecht. After the arrests and release of the brothers Blankespoor and the publicity at home and abroad around Gerard Blankespoor and De Schakel, the Public Prosecutor’s Office came with a press release on October 13 1999 that neither De Schakel nor Gerard Blankespoor were guilty of the offenses described above.
” Charges that are serious enough to stop the activities of the private clinic, which worked with proven better results than the heavily subsidized institutions of the government “
By then the damage is already done, in particular through the arrest of Gerard Blankespoor on the basis of false charges done by Martijn Overduin and Edith Blankespoor in 1998.
After all, the Public Prosecutor’s Office could also have reacted differently, namely by not arresting the suspects in this case, but only by questioning them.
This is what the Public Prosecutor’s Office in The Hague did with Hans Jongsma, who then worked for the Public Proscecutor’s Office and was suspected of the same deeds as reported by Edith Blankespoor.
However, for reasons other than finding the truth, Gerard and Fred Blankespoor were arrested and detained for a long time at a detention center.
As a result, this news kept the written press in the Netherlands and on Curaçao (where De Schakel had an office) very busy, as well as the news gathering on TV in the Netherlands and beyond, including the TV on Curaçao and CNN.
The comrades of the local and national governments had found each other; hand in hand and unexpectedly possible through the false charges of Martijn Overduin and Edith Blankespoor in 1998, the municipality of Apeldoorn and the Public Prosecutor’s Office have put a final end to an unique, successful rehabilitation and recovery program for addicts (the hermeneutical-nouthetic counseling method).
” The presiding judge R.L. Elkerbout still recalled at that court session, that in 1998 court expert witness PhD. H.J.G. Soppe as psychologist had laid down (before the arrest of Fred and Gerard Blankespoor), that the statement of Martijn Overduin contained a lot of contradictions, and that Prof. PhD. H.F.M. Crombag took down the non-scientific findings of PhD. Kemperman, as well as the statements of Edith Blankespoor and Martijn Overduin “
This at the expense of the truth and with very heavy and serious consequences for the victims (Gerard Blankespoor among others) by acting the way the authorities and the false declarants Martijn Overduin and Edith Blankespoor did.
On April 29, 2000, the District Attorney Mr. Hemelaar at the start of the hearing immediately demanded acquittal for the brothers Fred and Gerard Blankespoor.
The presiding judge R.L. Kemperman, as well as the statements of Edith Blankespoor and Martijn Overduin.
A final attempt by the judiciary system to turn these statements and embarrassment for the judiciary in their favor, is done by a retired policeman and chief of Gerard Blankespoor at that time; while enjoying a glass of wine and an otherwise delicious Surinamese meal, this chief, who was also present at the wedding of Gerard and Caroline, stated that where there is smoke, there must also be a fire.
So just tell me honestly what really happened.
There is no other way, you are probably still guilty, Gerard Blankespoor.
This is a typical example of a police culture that cannot live with the thought that they are arresting people who are really totally innocent.
Needless to mention, but after explaining his innocence again, this police chief wanted to have no further contact with Gerard Blankespoor, despite repeated attempts of the latter to maintain contact.
The crowning touch comes with reference to the report of Gerard Blankespoor done at the police headquarters of Apeldoorn against the false declarants in June 2000. Ultimately, the High Court decides in 2003 “that the false declarants do not need to be prosecuted, as they, although contrary to the truth, believe in their own recovered memories and dreams. In their false statements in the reports is no intention to violate the truth. They honestly believe in their own story”, according to the judgment of High Court in The Hague.
It is allowed to lie, according to judicial authorities, if you only believe honestly enough in your own lies!
